S.T. DUPONT Moscow 850 Lighter Getsby
044/850
Moscow, the capital of Russia, is celebrating its 850th anniversary in 1997. According to ancient chronicles, the first mention of village called Moscow occurred in the year 1147 when Souzdal knight Yury Dolgoruky invited Northern Novgorod knight Svyatoslav Olgovitch to a small town for a consultation. Later, in 1956, wooden walls were constructed at the mouth of the Neglinnaya river. Thus begun the building of the Kremlin. Eventually, this humble wooden fortress became one of the most beautiful capitals of the world with a population of more than 9 million.
The unique spirit of the huge city is manifested in the silence of its tiny lanes and in the secrets of the old private residence. Moscow has renamed many of its streets and squares, restoring the old names along with the old monuments. Yet – at the same time – the ancient capital is getting younger.
Due to friendly relations between Russia and France, the S.T. Dupont company has been officially present on the Russian market since 1992. Since this time the brand name of S.T. Dupont has become synonymous with elegance and impeccable taste in Russia.
The S.T. Dupont company has deciced to celebrate the 850th anniversary of the Russian capital together with Moscow and Moscovites by issuing a limited edition of 850 lighters devoted to the celebration of the jubilee.
Reaffirming the company’s intentions of developing close cooperation with Russia, S.T. Dupont has created a special design wherein traditional classical style is combined with Russian elements. The gold-plated lighter is treated with a black Chinese coating. The lacquer is made of tar from a rare plant Rhus Vernicifera which is gathered in small amounts on the shores of Red River in China and sent to France. On one side of the lighter there is a gold-plated silhouette of St. George, the main symbol of Moscow.
