Samuel Langhorne Clemens (1835-1910), known by his pen name Mark Twain, was an American writer, humorist, entrepreneur, publisher, and lecturer. He was lauded as the “greatest humorist the United States has produced,” and William Faulkner called him “the father of American literature”. His novels include “The adventure of Tom Sawyer” and its sequel the “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn”, the latter often called “The Great American novel”.

Montblanc marks the centenary of Mark Twain’s death and dedicates its Limited Writers Edition 2010 to Mark Twain, regarded to this day as the founder of Modern American literature. Driven by his observant eye, fierce sense of humor and clever wit, his works were socially critical yet entertaining novels and short stories which inspired and amused generations of readers. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, published in 1884, became his ultimate masterpiece and secured his worldwide reputation as a literary genius.

The Montblanc Limited Writers Edition Mark Twain celebrates his Southern roots, apparent in many of his works. Sinuous curving lines on the cap and barrel of the writing instruments are engraved on deep blue precious resin, inspired by the Mississippi River and its shallow waves. A platinum-plated filigree on the top of the cap is shaped like a steamboat chimney, overlaid onto ivory precious resin. The clip resembles a stylized jaw’s harp, a musical instrument popular in the old South. The cap ring is engraved with the author’s signature and the serial number. The handcrafted 18K gold fountain pen nib is engraved with two rope fathoms used to indicate the depth under a boat’s keel. Matching instruments include a capped rollerball and twist ball pen. The limited editions are also available in a three-piece set with a 0.7mm mechanical pencil. With its timeless, classic design, the Mark Twain is a worthy tribute to the life and work of a great literary icon.
