Sir Georg Solti (1912 – 1997) has made the most famous opera houses in the world his home and is the winner of an unequalled 33 Grammys. He was also without doubt one of the greatest conductors and musicians of the 20th century. But above all, he was a friend to humanity and an ambassador of peace, whose legacy lives on in the 21st century through the Solti Foundation, which he founded to foster young musical talent.
With its platinum trim and precious black resin, the Sir Solti Donation Pen pays tribute to the beginnings of Sir Georg Solti’s musical career as a pianist: the clip symbolises the keyboard of a piano and the cap rings reflect the shape of piano strings. The splendid red of Sir Georg Solti’s signature immortalised on the body is reminiscent of his handwritten notes on the sheets of music for which he always used a red wax crayon. With the fine engraving on the rhodium-plated 18-carat gold nib, this classic writing instrument is completed to perfection. As a reverence to one of Sir Georg Solti’s greatest private passions – the game of bridge – a high-quality set of playing cards is included in the gift box.
