Special Edition – Fountain pen, Rollerball pen and Ballpoint pen
The Montblanc Great Characters Homage to Bruce Lee Special Edition pays tribute to the legendary martial artist’s achievements on screen. Combining striking colours with carefully considered details, its design reflects the visual identity that made Bruce Lee an international icon.
The black precious resin barrel features a dragon motif inspired by one of Lee’s own drawings, while the yellow precious resin cap recalls his instantly recognisable outfit from Game of Death. Fine geometric detailing on the cap takes inspiration from the original Enter the Dragon film poster.
Further references to his martial arts heritage appear in the nunchaku-inspired clip and bamboo-shaped cap ring. The Montblanc emblem, crafted in white precious resin, features the Chinese character for dragon, a reference to Lee’s nickname, “Little Dragon”.
Limited Edition 1940 – Fountain pen, Rollerball pen
Limited to 1940 pieces in reference to Bruce Lee’s birth year, the Montblanc Great Characters Homage to Bruce Lee Limited Edition 1940 honours his contribution to cinema, both as an actor and a director. The edition features a gold-coated cap and barrel decorated with a yellow dragon motif based on Lee’s original artwork. Yellow lacquer inlays, contrasted with bold black stripes, recall the famous costume he wore in Game of Death. A film camera-inspired pattern on the cone acknowledges Lee’s work behind the camera, while the nunchaku-shaped clip and bamboo-inspired cap ring reflect his martial arts background. The Montblanc emblem, crafted from mother-of-pearl, incorporates the Chinese character for dragon.
Completing the design is a handcrafted solid Au 750 gold nib engraved with the yin-yang symbol, representing the balance of opposing forces central to Eastern philosophy.
Limited Edition 93 – Fountain pen
Limited to just 93 pieces, this edition showcases traditional Japanese Maki-e artistry, with the cap and barrel decorated by hand using the intricate Urushi lacquer technique. The flowing patterns take inspiration from a training shield used by Lee, reflecting the speed, precision and fluidity that characterised his martial arts practice. The red lacquered cone features the emblem of the Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute, founded by Lee in Seattle, while its black PVD-coated solid Au 750 gold ring references the texture of a traditional punching bag. An inlay of cedar wood recalls the University of Washington, where Lee studied philosophy.
The gold-coated clip, shaped to resemble a nunchaku, and the bamboo-inspired cap ring continue the collection’s references to martial arts. The Montblanc emblem features the Chinese character for dragon, created using the Maki-e technique in recognition of Lee’s nickname, “Little Dragon”. A handcrafted solid Au 750 gold nib completes the writing instrument, featuring the symbol of Jeet Kune Do, the martial arts philosophy developed by Bruce Lee.
Limited Edition 8 – Fountain pen
The Montblanc Great Characters Homage to Bruce Lee Limited Edition 8 is an exceptional expression of fine craftsmanship, celebrating not only Bruce Lee’s achievements but also the philosophy that shaped his life.
Crafted from solid Au 750 signature gold, the cap and barrel feature an intricately detailed dragon inspired by Lee’s own drawing. Its scales are individually inlaid by hand with oak and bamboo, reflecting his belief in the strength of flexibility and the importance of adapting to change. The textured gold surfaces evoke the movement of water, a central theme in Lee’s philosophy. Other personal references appear throughout the design, including the lacquered cone inspired by his familiar tortoiseshell glasses and the nunchaku-shaped clip, complemented by a bamboo-inspired cap ring. The Montblanc emblem takes the form of the yin-yang symbol, set with yellow sapphires and red garnets. A handcrafted solid Au 750 gold nib bears the words “Walk On”, a phrase closely associated with Lee’s personal outlook, and is finished with a brilliant-cut diamond.
Produced in an edition of just eight pieces, this remarkable writing instrument brings together precious materials, intricate decorative techniques and meaningful references to Bruce Lee’s life. It stands as a tribute to his individuality, discipline and lasting philosophical influence.
