Indisputably, Abraham-Louis Breguet is one of the most important watchmakers of all times. Many of his patents are in use this very day. The master set up his workshop in Paris in 1775. As a respected person at court – at a later time by the imperial family of Napoleon – he succeeded with a whole number of masterpieces. Among other things, he invented the tourbillon and the gong spring for repeating watches. His heirs carried on the family’s legacy. To this day, watches are manufactured that are committed to the famous tradition of Brequet horology. The best known models among these are: Grande Complication, Aeronavale Type XX, Heritage, Flying Tourbillon, Marine and the Classique series.
The Classique exemplifies the watchmaking ideals of precision, clarity and elegant lines. Whether extra-thin models or complicated watches, they are all true to the technical principles, the artistry and the traditional values of Breguet.
The noble elements of the past, used in some models, such as the decoration of dials in the technique of “hot enamel” (grand feu) or hand-painted Arabic numerals, will cause genuine admiration among collectors and connoisseurs of the brand. Breguet has been mastering the art of engine-turned guilloché dials since 1786, and it can be found on the Breguet Classique models.
This new Breguet Classique 5277 Réserve de Marche has a technical novelty. Its caliber 515DR movement features an innovation developed jointly by Breguet and its sister company, Nivarox. The movement of this Classique model, in particular its mainsprings, uses a new type of stainless steel with excellent mechanical properties.
The design of the new model Classique 5277 Power Reserve from the Swiss watch brand Breguet, presented at the international watch exhibition Baselworld-2013, is made in a refined classic style.
