In 2011 Montblanc celebrated the engineering genius of a Frenchman who designed the Eiffel Tower. The “Iron Magician,” was the master of reducing the effect of the wind to a minimum. His hand touched many places around the world – the railway bridges, the West train station in Budapest, the iron interior of the Statue of Liberty in New York, and the dome of Nice Observatory. His name became forever memorialized for the general public by the Paris iconic landmark, the Eiffel Tower, a wrought-iron lattice tower – one of the most imposing buildings ever.

Locally nicknamed “La dame de fer” (French for “Iron Lady”), the Eiffel Tower’s construction started from 1887 and completed in 1889 to celebrate the centenary of the French Revolution. The tower is 300 metres high (or 324 m including the broadcasting antenna at its top), about the same height as an 81-storey building, and the tallest structure in Paris.

Limited Edition 91

To honor the master, the Limited Edition pen shows off the skeleton net representing typical Eiffel’s construction work (the cross and the “Nieten”).

The Montblanc Gustave Eiffel features a skeletonized body in Au750 White (“grey”) Gold. The metal parts are reminiscent of Eiffel’s many structures focusing mainly on the Eiffel Tower. The engravings of the cone are inspired by the pattern of the Tour Eiffel.

The Montblanc Gustave Eiffel is covered in rivets, such as those used to fix beams of iron. The clip set with a diamond (0,055ct) reminds of a pair of compasses – the most important tool for Eiffel’s angle measurements. The cap ring enriched by his signature, is also marked with 1832-1923 (dates of birth and death of Alexandre Gustave Eiffel).

As homage to his versatile prowess, the cap top with its floating mother-of-pearl Montblanc emblem is shaped like the dome of Nice Observatory (an astronomical observatory located in Nice, France).

The 18K gold nib with its sophisticated engraving of a compass rose – indispensable for his structural calculations – complete this extraordinary edition, paying tribute to its namesake and his groundbreaking architecture.

The limitation number “91” is based on his age to honour his lifetime achievements.
