The Montblanc Limited Edition Fountain Pen Kong Zi, is a homage to one of the most important Chinese philosopher, poet and politician of the Spring and Autumn period, who was traditionally considered the paragon of Chinese sages. Kong Zi (551-479 BCE), known to the west as Confucius, used his unique approach to wisdom to help transform the Chinese social system.
The Confucianism founded by Confucius has been influencing China and even the whole world for thousands of years. His philosophy emphasized personal and governmental morality, correctness of social relationships, justice and sincerity.
Born in the Spring and Autumn Period and Warring States Period, Confucius advocated “humanism” and “good nature”, which are the central ideas of Confucianism. Confucianism influences the later books and works, and is a representative of traditional Chinese academic circles.
Montblanc created Kong Zi Limited Edition, in order to highlight the traditional Chinese style and the Confucian spirit of Confucianism. The Limited Edition 88 is made by a master craftsman using the finest materials and playing the utmost precision. Each pen bears an engraved limitation number.

The Fountain Pen made of Au750 white gold, is decorated with red lacquer that best represents China and the cap and body 3D pattern patterns are inspired by traditional Chinese totems, symbolizing prosperity and good fortune.
The five pen rings on the cap and the barrel represent the Five Classics of the Four Books and Five Classics: the “Book of Odes or Poetry”, “Book of Documents”, “Book of Rites”, “Book of Changes” and the “Spring and Autumn” Annals. The five diamonds (0.03ct) inlaid on the clip represent the virtues of Confucianism: benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, and Faithfulness.
The special and exquisite part of the pen is the curved shape at the top of the cap resembling the “official” hat worn by Confucius. The fountain pen’s hand-crafted 18K gold nib is engraved with the profile of Confucius. The cap top is adorned with mother-of-pearl Montblanc emblem.
