S.T. DUPONT Olympio / Statue Of Liberty

  • Limited Edition Statue of Liberty Ligne 2 Lighter, Fountain Pen and Rollerball

The Statue of Liberty, a monumental statue commemorating the centenary of the American Declaration of Independence, was offered by France to the United States in 1886, as a gift to celebrate the friendship between the two countries.

The statue was created by the French sculptor Fredereic Auguste Bartholdi with Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, designing its metal structure. The French team working on the bronze statue and in charge of the construction and mounting, finished their work in July 1884. After dismantling, it was sent to New York in 350 separate parts on the French frigate “Isere”. The base, built by the Americans, was finished in April 1886 and the Statue of Liberty was inaugurated on October 28th, 1886 in front of thousands of spectators. It became a national American monument on October 15th, 1924.

Although initially created as an embodiment of international friendship, the Statue of Liberty gradually became known as the universal symbol of liberty and freedom.

S.T. Dupont has drawn its inspiration from this historical monument to create a unique collection, renewing the bonds of friendship between the Americans and people of France.

This Special Edition features sophisticated guilloche work evoking a modern day graphic interpretation of the statue. The cap of the pen and the lighter’s face feature an image of the famous statue. The Chinese lacquer inlay conjures up the monument’s verdigris (bluish green) patina and is in sharp contrast to the brilliance of the platinum “d’Cor”.

The pen is based on the Olympio grand, so it’s a large pen. The fountain pen has 18K white gold nib.

This Edition was released in 2002 and was only available in France and the USA, each of them limited to 350 pieces.
