Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the 32nd President of the United States, led the nation through two of the most defining periods of the 20th century—the Great Depression and the Second World War. Elected to an unprecedented four terms, he reshaped the role of the presidency, restored public confidence through his famed fireside chats, and articulated the enduring vision of the Four Freedoms. His commitment to social reform, global stability, and peace culminated in his pivotal role in founding the United Nations, leaving a legacy that continues to shape the modern world.
Honoring this legacy, Montblanc presents the Franklin D. Roosevelt Fountain Pen, the final edition in the America’s Signatures for Freedom collection, strictly limited to 50 pieces worldwide. The cap and barrel are finished in deep blue precious lacquer, revealing an underlying guilloché pattern inspired by the textured surface of a broadcast microphone—a direct reference to Roosevelt’s historic radio addresses. His presidential years, 1933–1945, are engraved on the cap dome, while the four cap rings bear the dates of each of his four terms in office.
The pen is adorned with 750 solid gold fittings, including a cap ring engraved with the initials FOR and a cone decorated with a laurel wreath motif, inspired by the emblem of the United Nations. The finely detailed clip features an engraved replica of a U.S. dime bearing Roosevelt’s portrait, complemented by four diamonds symbolizing his Four Freedoms speech. The handcrafted 750 solid gold nib is engraved with “America’s Signatures for Freedom” and embellished with 13 stars, commemorating the original states that adopted the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Completing the design, the cap is crowned with the Montblanc emblem in mother-of-pearl and enhanced with Franklin D. Roosevelt’s signature.
