In 2022, Montblanc honours one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century who is widely regarded as one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music: Jimi Hendrix.
James Marshall “Jimi” Hendrix was an American guitarist, songwriter and singer. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential guitarists of all time. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 as a part of his band, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, the institution describes him as “arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music.”.

Taking inspiration from the iconic cover art of the 1968 album Electric Ladyland, the barrel of this Limited Edition 1942 is finished in a rich degradé lacquer, encased within a finely skeletonized overlay. The cap’s texture reflects the look of amplifier fabric typical of Hendrix’s era and includes a lacquered emblem as a distinctive highlight. The clip, coated in yellow gold, is angled to mimic the shape of a guitar’s vibrato arm, reinforcing the musical theme. At the top of the cap, the Montblanc emblem is crafted from precious resin for a refined finish. A notable design element is the gold-coated ring around the barrel, inspired by the vintage look of 1960s guitar cables and engraved with the date of one of Hendrix’s legendary performances.
