The Ligne 2 Lighter now has a new collection with shiny, vibrant colours by combining one of the Maison’s most precious techniques with lacquered guilloché work.
In 2022, S.T. Dupont displayed the four new versions of the iconic Ligne 2 lighters. They are part of the new Ligne 2 Guilloche Collection, which uses a guilloché technique to give the lighter both an interesting look and also a unique texture.
S.T. Dupont is renowned worldwide for crafting exceptional lighters of superior quality and design. The “Guilloche Collection” is no exception and demonstrates one of their oldest and most treasured crafting techniques “guilloche under lacquer”.
Guilloché Technique
Guilloche is an intricate decorative technique created by engraving a surface with great precision and then adding a transparent layer of resin, enamel, or in the case of S.T. Dupont’s fine L2 Lighters, a natural lacquer over the engraved surface. The solid brass body is lacquered multiple times and hand polished to create a smooth, unique texture.
S.T. Dupont’s artisans add layers of natural lacquer to the surface of the guilloche pattern in a months long process involving many applications and polishing to impart depth and mystery to each finish. The engraving causes the reflection of light through the overlay of natural Urushi lacquer creating a stunning display of light and color. The result is a collection of precious, hand lacquered lighters of exceptional beauty.
The Guilloche Lighter Collection is offered in 4 vibrant colored lacquers: Large classic Ligne 2 lighters – in red, orange, turquoise and blue lacquered guilloche, with yellow gold-plated and palladium fire head finish, featuring S.T. Dupont’s signature “cling” sound; with double flame cigar burner. The top of the lighter is adorned with the S.T. Dupont logo and the ignition roller is engraved with 24 grooved lines to enhance grip when igniting your iconic Ligne 2 lighter.
Each piece is one of a kind. While the procedure remains the same, the result is always different. Depending on the color contrasts obtained, the handmade production process gives the product its very own depth and soul.
