The collection references the heritage of Minerva, which was originally founded in 1858 and purchased by Montblanc in 2006.
The story of Montblanc’s watchmaking tradition began 160 years ago, when Charles-Yvan Robert founded a watch workshop in the Saint-Imier valley in 1858, starting the Minerva era. Minerva gained recognition for its precise chronometry at the beginning of the 20th century. And during its heyday, Minerva was a leading specialist in measuring small intervals of time with the utmost precision. Minerva shaped the history of time measurement with its innovative power and highly developed time measurement technology. Today, 160 years later, these characteristics find themselves again in the Montblanc 1858 collection.
The Montblanc 1858 Small Second, comes in three versions – a limited edition version in a series of 858 pieces that features an alligator strap; a bracelet version; and a version with a calfskin leather strap.
The watch is nostalgic in design and features a similar aesthetic to that of the chronograph. With large black dial and Arabic numerals, the Small Second was inspired by original Minerva designs and features a subsidiary seconds dial and cathedral hands. The stainless steel case is 44 mm in diameter with a sapphire crystal case back.
The movement, inspired by early pilot’s watches, is a caliber MB 23.03 manual-winding movement.
