S.T. Dupont presents the most individual collection: the DNA Ligne 2 Lighter – an exclusive and very personal creation (presented to the specialist trade fair at the InterTabac 2019).
For the extraordinary design of the DNA lighter, S.T. Dupont Haute Création designer Oliver Kaps needs 10-grams of the owner’s hair, from which the DNA elements are extracted in a further step.
To bring the DNA elements to life, 10 elements out of 12 are extracted, then enclosed in a synthetic ruby or sapphire. This process is scientifically proven. Each stone is certified and numbered to ensure that is “Your” stone, made from 10 out of 12 of your elements.
Back in Oliver’s workshop, the obtained stone serves as the basis for probably the most unique lacquer in the world.
A total of 15 days, 36 layers of lacquer and five hours per day in the burning chamber are required to produce the shiny, glittering surface of the lighter. The glitter effect that can be seen in direct light by day, can also be seen at night. The production time of the most personal lighter in the world is about three months from the order!
To underline the artistic character of the product, there is also available a double helix-shaped base that reproduces the DNA structure, on top of which the lighter and precious stone are placed to complete the composition of the work of art.
(The Lighter can also be made from a blue or red Diamand with hair or ashes).
The creator “Oliver Kaps“
Oliver Kaps is a paint artist, car manufacturer and craftsman. Inspired and impressed by an encounter with a so-called lowrider in the USA in the early 1990s, he made the firm decision to build a car himself. At that time, Oliver was only nine years old – seven years later he began training as a painter and varnisher. Then he moved to Italy and learned the art of illusionist painting and gilding. These experiences, which inspired him, form the basis of his lacquer art works today. In 2004 Kaps founded the Wagenbauanstalt in Hamburg and actually built his first car – a complete modification of a 1953 Cadillac coupe with a spectacular candy paint job. This was followed by other breathtaking vehicles and projects.
