This Limited Edition Fountain Pen celebrates the 250th anniversary of the birth of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) and the completion of his famous triptych of symphonies, most notably the “Jupiter”, completed in 1788, Mozart’s last symphony, and it is uncertain whether the work was performed during the composer’s lifetime.
Mozart’s hallowed final triptych of symphonies – No. 39 in E-flat, No. 40 in G Minor, and No. 41 in C, Jupiter – represent the pinnacle of the composer’s orchestral art. Each of these is uniquely remarkable for its colorful orchestration, variety of musical characters and textures, harmonic inventiveness, and sheer wealth of thematic ideas. Among the three, George Grove singled out the Jupiter as “the greatest orchestral work of the world which preceded the French Revolution.”
Jupiter Symphony, byname of Symphony No. 41 in C Major, K 551, orchestral work by Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, known for its good humour, exuberant energy, and unusually grand scale for a symphony of the Classical period. These qualities likely earned the symphony its nickname “Jupiter” – for the chief god of the ancient Roman pantheon. The nickname was allegedly coined by German musician, impresario, and longtime London resident Johann Peter Saloman and was probably first used in print in a London concert program in 1821.
Despite his short life, his rapid pace of composition resulted in more than 800 works of virtually every genre of his time, including: 22 opera works, 15 Masses, over 50 symphonies, 25 piano concertos, 12 violin concertos, 27 concert arias, 17 piano sonatas, 26 string quartets, and many other pieces.
During his final years in Vienna, he composed many of his best-known symphonies, concertos, and operas, and portions of the Requiem, which was largely unfinished at the time of his early death at the age of 35. The circumstances of his death are largely uncertain, and have thus been much mythologized.

Montblanc honors the great composer with a Limited Edition Fountain Pen created from Au750 white gold. The body of the pen is decorated in black lacquer, and the cap in red lacquer with patterns reminiscent of the elaborate Rococo style. The cap rings are set with diamonds: 60 diamonds 1.0mm (0.27ct).
The 18K gold nib is engraved with the portrait of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The cap is topped with the Montblanc star emblem in mother-of-pearl.
The pen packaged in a lacquer display box, comes with a leather bound volume of the “Jupiter Symphony” and an accompanying commentary.
