Montblanc pays tribute to Otto von Bismarck, Graf (count) von Bismarck-Schönhausen (1815-1898), the founding father of the German Empire, initiator of pioneering social reform (the introduction of statutory health and accident insurance is regarded to this day as a pioneering step towards a modern welfare system), the “Iron Chancellor”, who between 1862 and 1890 effectively ruled first Prussia and then all of Germany. A master strategist, Bismarck initiated decisive wars with Denmark, Austria and France to unite 39 independent German states under Prussian leadership.
Otto Von Bismarck is one of the most influential characters in German history, whose legacy lives to the present day.
Limited Edition 71
The famous Prussian statesman and diplomat, Otto von Bismarck, has inspired Montblanc to create a unique, strictly limited edition fountain pen made of Au750 solid white gold, whose shape and careful attention to details reflect the character and the era of Count Otto von Bismarck.
The striking top of the cap, with the Montblanc star emblem in mother-of-pearl, is based on Bismarck’s legendary spiked helmet, while the setting of his coat of arms at the bend the elegantly shaped clip resembles the epaulettes of his dress uniform. The ornaments – the German imperial eagle, the oak leaf, the uniform mountings and the tendrils of the Bismarck coat of arms – these insignia of Bismarck, masterfully worked into the black lacquer of the barrel in yellow gold, revive the epoch of the empire.
The 18K gold nib is decorated with fine engraving of the Prussian imperial eagle, the “Reichsadler”. The Fountain Pen with cartridge holder also features the shape of an early Montblanc safety pen from the 1920s.
This impressive writing instrument, in homage to the year of the Empire’s establishment, is produced in a Limited Edition of 71 pieces worldwide.
