Montblanc has released a Limited Edition Fountain Pens dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the New York Juilliard School, an academy for music, dance and theatrical arts. Since 1905, the evolution of American music and popular culture has been inseparable from The Julliard School in New York City.
In 1905, Frank Damrosch, a German-born American music conductor and educator, founded and became director of the the “New York Institute of Musical Art”, with the hopes of reproducing the quality of instruction found in European conservatories. In 1926, the Institute of Musical Art merged with the Juilliard Graduate School, to form what is today Julliard School. In 1919, a wealthy textile merchant named Augustus Julliard died and left the school in his will the largest single bequest for the advancement of music at that time.
Limited Edition 100
The black, highly-polished barrel of the Limited Edition Pen creates a harmonious contrast to the accents in Au750 white gold. The elegant clip, formed in the shape of the letter “J” – echoing the name of this world famous conservatory, is adorned with a diamond (approx. 0.03ct). An additional 140 diamonds are set on the rings encircling the body and cap of the pen, engraved with the words “Julliard School, 100 years”.
The Montblanc emblem which crowns the cap top is in mother-of-pearl. The portrait of Augustus D. Juilliard is finely engraved on the rhodium-plated 18K gold nib, paying homage to the founder of The School, whose reputation worldwide has never waned in the last 100 years.
