Montblanc Andrew Jackson Limited Edition Fountain Pen honors the seventh President of the United States of America, who was also the first President to be elected solely by popular vote.
Andrew Jackson demonstrated that he was indeed “a man of the people” – and not another member of the Eastern elite who had been elected president – by opening his 1829 inaugural reception at the White House to the public. Alas, the gesture proved unwise when the raucous crowd of commoners caused several thousand dollars in damages.
The Montblanc Andrew Jackson Pen is a continuation of the America’s Signatures for Freedom series, launched in 2007, dedicated to the lives and works of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America. The Limited Edition Series already includes collections that pay tribute to George Washington, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson.
The intricate 750 solid white gold skeleton overlay of the Limited Edition Fountain Pen is inspired by Jackson’s reception hall ceiling in the White House. The signature and dates of Jackson’s legislative period (1829-1837) surround the mother-of-pearl Montblanc emblem on the cap top.
The clip bears an engraved portrait of Jackson and is adorned with a stunning sapphire to represent his blue eyes, evoking another feature that defined Old Hickory: People called him “Old Hickory” because he was a strict and bold military officer during the war of 1812 – Not only Andrew was as unbending as a tree, but also as tough as wood.
Bands of diamonds encircle the pen’s base and the crown of its cap. The black elements on the cone, cap and middle ring pay tribute to his celebrated military career. The 18K gold nib is engraved with the signatures and 13 stars, marking the states that have accepted the Declaration of Independence.
The Fountain Pens’ limitation number refer to the 50 official states in the USA.
