Montblanc pays homage to one of the most popular stars of classical Hollywood cinema, the violet-eyed screen icon – award-winning film star, influencer and activist Elizabeth Taylor (1932-2011). Taylor’s eyes in particular drew attention; they were blue, to the extent of appearing violet, and were rimmed by dark double eyelashes caused by a genetic mutation.

Dame Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor is a name that rose to fame in the 1940s, and by the 1960s, she became the highest-paid movie star.

Taylor left a memorable opus of films, including the award-winning “Butterfield 8” and “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” In addition, she was the first actress to earn $1 million for a movie role (Cleopatra, 1963), and she eventually garnered the American Film Institute Life Achievement Award in 1993.

Her legacy includes social activism, which includes her work on behalf of AIDS sufferers. In 1985, Taylor co-founded the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR), now The Foundation for AIDS Research. In 1991, she established The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation (ETAF) and raised more awareness for the fight against AIDS than any other public figure of her time.

Her breathtaking beauty was matched only by the independence with which Taylor lived her life and loved her loves – which included singer Eddie Fisher and actor Richard Burton, among others.

Never one to rest on her past, her later career included the launch of several successful perfumes, including “White Diamonds” and “Black Pearls” in an ode to her renowned love of jewelry. The most spectacular piece of jewellery from her private jewellery collections features historic pieces, including the gigantic 33.19-carats Elizabeth Taylor Diamond (formerly known as the Krupp Diamond) ring, given to her by Richard Burton, her fifth husband, and the famous pear-shaped 69-carat Burton-Cartier Diamond Burton gave her in 1969.

Elizabeth Taylor Special Edition

Montblanc relies on a unique lacquering technique that encapsulates the cap and barrel with a dark-violet marbleised lacquer in homage to Elizabeth Taylor’s stunning eyes and the star’s favorite color.

Elizabeth Taylor’s passion for jewelry served as inspiration for the ring-shaped clip, which draws attention with its shape. Her love for gemstones and diamonds was as well-known as her life’s many loves.

The platinum-coated cone with its geometric engraving recalls a typical jewelry pattern of the 1950’s, something that the great enchantress would’ve approved of. The cap top is decorated with a Montblanc emblem in precious resin.

The fountain pen’s 14K/Au585 solid gold rhodium-coated nib bears an engraving of the three words “LONG LIVE LOVE”, in remembrance of her moving speech at the GLAAD Media Awards in 2000, which ended with these words.

The Montblanc Muses Elizabeth Taylor Special Edition stands as a symbol of entertainment, culture, fashion, and philanthropy. It is available as a Fountain Pen/125501, Rollerball/125522 and Ballpoint Pen/125523.
