Montblanc pays a tribute to the Independence Day of the United States, also paying homage to the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence, in 1776.
The 4th of July Limited Edition 56 Skeleton Pen is limited to just fifty-six pieces and dedicated to the American Declaration of Independence. It was fifty-six representatives of the thirteen British American Colonies who signed a joint declaration and among these men were Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and John Adams.
The pen’s body is made of red transparent precious resin, and is striped in mother-of pearl and white gold filigree, evoking the image of the proud red and white stripes of the American flag. The 13 stars encircling the cap and barrel symbolise the thirteen original states and the first American flag, designed by Betsy Ross.
As a tribute to the spiritual father of the Declaration of Independence, the platinum-plated 18K gold nib is engraved with the portrait of Thomas Jefferson. The mother-of-pearl bands and the clip are inscribed with signatures of selected representatives, one for each of the original colonies.
