Cohiba is the most prestigious Habanos brand in the world and is as well the first name given to tobacco. When Christopher Columbus arrived in Cuba in 1492, he saw the Taino Indians, the natives of the land, used to light rolled tobacco leaves, which they called “Cohiba.” The Indians smoked those ancient types of modern Habanos following a special ritual.
As recorded in historical chronicles and travel diaries, this ceremony was always conducted by a very respected person in the tribe, called the savages “Behike”.
Cohiba – a brand for two kinds of premium cigar, one produced in Cuba for Habanos S.A. – the Cuban state-owned tobacco company, and the other produced in the Dominican Republic for US-based General Cigar Company.
The US Cohiba brand name was registered in the United States by the General Cigar Company in 1978 and cigars using that trademark have been produced for the American market in the Dominican Republic on a large scale from 1997. This Cohiba is related to the Cuban product in name only, containing no Cuban tobacco, and thus is the only “Cohiba” that can be sold legally in the United States.
S.T. Dupont Cohiba Collection
The release of the Cohiba Thematic Edition and Behike Thematic Edition marks the third time that S.T. Dupont has collaborated with Habanos for a Cohiba collection. The first S.T. Dupont Cohiba accessories debuted in 1992 and the second collection launched in 2003.
Nowadays, Cohiba offers 4 different lines, such as Línea Clasica, Línea 1492, Maduro 5 and the most exclusive Cohiba Behike. All the collection adorns the Cohiba pattern in black and white and yellow colours. The Indian head and S.T. Dupont brand are both signed on each product.
The creators of the project emphasize that the appearance of these collections is intended to express the shared passion of Habanos SA and ST Dupont for the unique craftsmanship and heritage of Habanos.
Like Cuban cigars and rum, both Cohiba-branded collections will not be sold in the United States. They will only be available for purchase outside the U.S., at high-end retailers around the globe.

Following a past collaboration with Cohiba in 2003, S.T. Dupont is proud to sign a new one with the brand. This new and very special Thematic Edition celebrates what is probably the most famous and exclusive cigar brand in the world, Cohiba.
Luxury goods maker S.T. The collections include lighters, cutters, humidors, double cigar cases and a pair of cufflinks.
The first set is called S.T. Dupont Cohiba Thematic Edition and the second and more expensive collection, called Behike Thematic Edition.
