Les Invalides in Paris is a complex of buildings in the city’s 7th arrondissement containing museums and monuments, all relating to the military history of France. It is the burial site of Napoleon Bonaparte. Louis XIV initiated the project by an order in 1670, as a home and hospital for aged and unwell soldiers. The chapel known as Eglise Saint-Louis des Invalides is well recognisable with its ribbed and hemispherical dome. This domed chapel is centrally placed to dominate the court of honour. It was finished in 1708.
