“Kāma” one of the four goals of Hindu life, means desire, and “sūtra” literally means a thread or line that holds things together. It presents itself as a guide to a virtuous and gracious living that discusses the nature of love, family life and other aspects pertaining to pleasure oriented faculties of human life.
The Kamasutra has been represented in many forms of art, few of them know as “The Khajuraho Temples” that were built by the Chandella rulers between AD 900 and 1130, during their golden period. The ancient Indian art at Khajuraho is considered to represent the pinnacle of love and passion. The Khajuraho temples, scattered over an area of about 9 square miles, depict the traditional lifestyle of women in the medieval age. Rediscovered almost nine centuries later, they give a poignant representation of life in the 11th century. The images of Goddesses and Gods sculpted on the temple walls represent the many manifestations of the divine Shakti and Shiva, the female and male principles, the Yin and the Yang.
The “K” collection, hand sculpted by master jeweler Phillipe Tournaire and S.T. Dupont, symbolises the being of man and women on this earth, tied together with the knot of eternity.
