It is long said that the empress and concubines of the Qing Dynasty were in different ranks and statuses, but when someone was conferred the title of empress or concubine, she would be granted a seal as an indication of her status. Made of pure gold, the double dragon knot decorates the gracious seal of “the empress” bearing seal-script Chinese and Manchu characters”.

The S.T.Dupont’s magnificent Double Dragon is inspired by the Imperial Qing dynasty golden seal used during the era of the Forbidden City. For the last 3,000 years these seals have played an important role in both official and private spheres. The earliest examples of seals date way back to the 11th BC to the Shang dynasty (BC 16th-11th c.) from the archeological sites at Anyang.

S.T.Dupont, in collaboration with Tournaire, has hand-crafted the exclusive and prestige versions that entail writing instruments and lighters in bronze with a new twist of red Chinese Lacquer and gold finish.
