MONTBLANC Writers Edition / Virginia Woolf

Virginia Woolf was one of the most significant authors of the 20th century and a forerunner of classic modern literature. Living Victorian aesthetic and literary tradition behind, she became a key figure in female literature and is regarded as the founder of the “inner monologue”. This avantgarde technique of novel writing made Woolf’s famous works such as “Mrs Dalloway” and above all “The Waves” milestones of modern literature.

In spite of the darkness that overshadowed her life from the outset, Virginia Woolf’s literary legacy-seven novels and more than 500 essay’s and sketches in prose form – is considered to be one of the brightest stars in the firmament of contemporary literature to this day. To mark the 75th anniversary of the publication of the Waves, Montblanc is launching a 2006 Edition of unique writing instruments dedicated to the memory of the pioneer of feminist literature: the Virginia Woolf Writers Edition.

With a guilloche of finely engraved waves, the black guilloche pattern, cast-resin body of the Writers Edition Virginia Woolf is reminiscent of Virginia Woolf’s most outsanding novel “The Waves” and the nib features an engraving of the two elm trees under which she is buried. The faceted ruby on the gold-plated clip symbolises the brilliance of her work as a writer. The 18-carat gold nib with its fine engraving together with the gold-plated rings completes this exceptional pen in honour of an exceptional woman.
