S.T. DUPONT New York 5th Avenue

Following a sojourn on the Cote d’ Azur and the journey across the Atlantic aboard the ships of the French Line, S.T Dupont is stopping off in New York with its new Limited Edition line, New York 5th Avenue. It pays homage to the legendary city of New York as well as to the to the great French interior designers who decorated the private apartments and offices of the New York elite on the Upper East Side and 5th Avenue during the Thirties and Forties. Breaking away from Art Deco, the French designers created a sophisticated world, bleeding sixteenth century Hispanic baroque, eighteenth century French classicism and surrealism of the time.

Once again, S.T. Dupont has pushed the limits of its expertise in lacquer and gold to create a beautifully rich decorative scheme. Tracery in drap and chocolate lacquer, delicately juxtaposed, is enriched by many fine guilloche arabesques. Framing and enhancing this sumptuous decor, bronze grilles finished in gold, molded and chased by hand like a piece of wrought ironwork, are laid one by one on each lighter and pen. The globe they form is a reference to the globe held by the statue of Atlas at the foot of the Rockefeller Center on 5th Avenue.

Founded more than 140 years ago, S.T. Dupont has a rich history connected to royal families and the aristocracy. But having a strong connection to the past doesn’t mean the brand sticks to a tried-and-true strategy. In fact, this is a dedication to innovation that has allowed them to be one of the top luxury manufacturers for nearly one and a half centuries.

Thanks to the organic Development of their product line, S.T. Dupont officially specialized in four areas – lighters, pens, leather goods and accessories – and have branded these products, respectively, ”The Art of Fire”, “The Art of Writing”, “The Art of Travel” and “The Art of Seduction”.

Europe represented an inexhaustible source of inspiration for the New World right up until 1940s. It embodied the elegance and avant-garde of culture, architecture and fashion.

This Limited Edition is made up to two lighters, a Ligne 2 and a small-model Ligne 2, and two extra-large Olympio pens – one fountain pen and one roller ball – which are numbered out of 1929, a reference to the date of Lucien Tissot Dupont`s first trip to New York. The Jeroboam and humidor are numbered out of 329, and the ashtray and cigar cutter out of 529. Taking luxury and elegance to new heights, S. T.Dupont has created an exceptional lighter and pen decorated with solid white gold arabesques set with sparkling white diamonds: 175 diamonds adorn the Ligne 2 Lighter and 125 diamonds glitter on the Olympio X-Large fountain pen. Only 20 articles of each of these two bejewelled works of art crafted in precious metals are available in the world. Prestige Lighter L2 (only 20 produced).
