Carlo Collodi, whose real name was Carlo Lorenzini, was born on 24th of November 1826 in Florence and grew up under modest circumstances. Carlo Collodi was many things in his life – a journalist, book dealer, civil servant, revolutionary and author, but he was never famous. He died on 26 October 1890, just a few years after the publication of his greatest work and just before “Le avventure di Pinocchio”. “Storia di un burattino (The Adventures of Pinocchio – The story of a wooden puppet)” started to become one of the world’s most widely read books.

Collodi’s masterpiece was published in 1883 and was inspired by the most enduring fictional character in children’s literature. Each writing instrument of the Writers Edition Carlo Collodi is a fantastically playful and magical interpretation of Pinocchio´s world.

Every detail of the Limited Writers Edition Carlo Collodi is carefully designed to reflect Collodi’s epic masterpiece. It has inspired a design that combines the mystical elements of timeless history with modern writing culture, imbuing this writing instrument with a poetic soul.

The barrel of each pen is an impressive representation of Pinocchio’s extraordinary nose, made of dark brown precious resin complemented by a champagne-tone gold-plated cone. The extraordinary details are further established by symbolizing the joints of the famous wooden puppet with a screw set that fastens the clip to the pen cap.

Pinocchio’s Fairy-tale world unfolds on the champagne-tone gold-plated skeletonised cap, which shows the protagonist and his companions: the good fairy, the loyal cricket, the shady fox, the deceitful cat and the voracious whale all combine to give this writing instrument a playful yet noble look. A screw set into the clip symbolises the joints of the famous marionette while Collodi’s signature completes the cop of this Limited Writers Edition.

This Edition of the luxurious fountain pens is completed by the fine engraving of the cricket. The hand-crafted nib made of champagne gold is engraved with a subtle reminder of the story: the cricket – one of the Pinocchious’ fellow travellers – the embodiment of Pinocchio’s conscience.

The Writers Edition Carlo Collodi is only available in a strictly limited edition worldwide – this is guaranteed by Montblanc, as it is for all its Limited Editions. The issue number engraved on the cap is proof of the uniqueness of every piece. The fountain pen version of this edition is limited to 12,000 pieces, and the ballpoint pen to 14, 600.
