Brahms – A Great Composer
Born in 1833 to a middle-class musician in Hamburg, Johannes Brahms rose to worldwide acclaim as a major composer of the Romantic period as well as a conductor and concert pianist. His musical career began to flourish at the age of 2, when he was introduced to Robert and Clara Schumann. Schumann was outspoken in his praise of the young man before the musical community – raising expectations of greatness that Brahms amply fulfilled. A lifetime of dedication to his art would eventually earn Brahms a place alongside Bach and Beethoven in the canon of great classical composers.
Romantic Inspiration
Brahms found a loyal supporter not only in Robert Schumann. but also in his wife Clara. Their tender letters reveal a close, lifelong friendship honoured in the Donation Pen Johannes Special Edition, which features a delicate engraving of a dove on the 14K gold nib – a sign of both love and peace.
Master of Keys and Clefs
Brahms’s renown as a composer, performer and conductor spread quickly throughout Europe – his talent winning him every success. As a symbol of his perfectionism in music, the clip of the Johannes Brahms Special Edition is inspired by a tuning fork. The music staff decorating the cap brings to mind the excitement of symphony scores and orchestras tuning up for a performance.
Honouring A Great Musical Figure of the Romantic Era
Brahms assisted several young composers at the start of their careers. Sharing the sense of duty to the next generation, Montblanc is donating 20 euros from each Johannes Brahms Special Edition fountain pen and 10 euros from each rollerball or ballpoint pen to carefully selected cultural projects relating to classical music.
